Tattoo & Piercing Aftercare Instructions

TATTOO AFTERCARE

First — The Only Things To Remember

Keep it clean
Keep it lightly moisturized
Do not pick it
Do not soak it

Healing time: about 3–4 weeks

First 24 Hours

Leave the bandage on for the time your artist recommended.

When removing:
Wash your hands first
Remove gently
Wash with lukewarm water and mild fragrance-free soap
Pat dry with paper towel (not cloth)

Apply a very thin layer of ointment.

Days 2–5

Wash 2–3 times daily
Apply a thin layer of ointment after each wash

The tattoo may feel warm and look bright. This is normal.

Do not re-bandage unless instructed.

Days 5–14

Switch to unscented lotion
Apply lightly when skin feels dry

You will see peeling and flaking similar to a sunburn.
Do not scratch or pick.

Weeks 2–4

Tattoo may look cloudy or dull
This is normal while skin finishes healing

Keep moisturized and avoid sun exposure

What To Avoid While Healing

No swimming or soaking
No tanning
No scratching or picking
No tight clothing rubbing the tattoo

Showers are fine

What Is Normal

Redness for a few days
Light scabbing or peeling
Mild itching
Cloudy appearance during healing

Contact The Shop Or Doctor If You Notice

Increasing redness after several days
Excessive swelling
Green or yellow discharge
Fever or severe pain

Long Term Care

After healing, sunscreen protects the tattoo and prevents fading.

PIERCING AFTERCARE

Quick Rules

Do not twist jewelry
Do not remove jewelry early
Clean gently twice daily
Avoid soaking

Healing time varies by location.

Cleaning

Wash hands first
Soak gauze in saline and hold on piercing for 5–10 minutes
Pat dry with paper towel

Do not use alcohol or peroxide

What To Expect

Mild swelling
Clear or light discharge
Tenderness

These are normal during healing.

Avoid

Swimming or hot tubs
Touching with dirty hands
Makeup or lotion on the area
Sleeping directly on the piercing

Oral Piercings

Rinse with alcohol-free mouthwash after eating
Avoid smoking and spicy foods early in healing

Seek Help If You Notice

Severe swelling
Thick colored discharge
Persistent pain
